Important Things to Keep in Mind
CAS is a rare motor speech disorder, occurring in only 1-2 children per 1,000.
Specialized methods are necessary to assess and treat the underlying motor speech disorder.
Intensity matters. Research supports treatment 3-4 times per week, especially for children with severe CAS.
With appropriate treatment, even children with severe CAS can make significant improvement and become functional verbal communicators.
There are many different methods to treat CAS, but only a few have sufficient evidence of treatment efficacy.
