Course Description:

This course provides an introduction to childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and describes how it differs from more common pediatric speech sound disorders, such as a phonological disorder. The course reviews evidence-based assessment and treatment methods based on motor learning theory and principles of motor learning. Finally, the course provides examples of different treatment methods supported by scientific evidence.

The videos may be watched and reviewed as many times as desired.

The course handout is available for your use. You may save the handout as a .pdf or print it.

All individuals who complete the course, including obtaining a score of at least 80% within three attempts on the Learner Assessment, will be able to print a Certificate of Completion for evidence of course completion and are eligible to earn .15 CEUs.

Please note: If you are interested in attending an advanced, 2-day workshop, you must complete the course titled “Diagnosis and Treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech Using Dynamic Tactile and Temporal Cueing” and score 80% or higher on the post-test.

This Introduction to CAS course does NOT count towards the advanced workshop pre-requisite requirements. Click here for more information about advanced workshops.
